Guthrie Doctor on the similarities between the Moderna and Pfizer vaccine

(WBNG) – As vaccinations are ongoing nationwide, not everyone receives the same one.

Some who receive the coronavirus vaccine receive the Pfizer vaccine, while others receive Moderna.

While there are two separately approved vaccines, says dr. Michael Scalzone, chief quality officer at Guthrie Hospital, that the two vaccines are more similar than they differ.

Dr Scalzone says both vaccines are mRNA, meaning there is no live virus in them, and both are designed to deceive your body.

Dr Scalzone explains: “It is designed to deceive the body into thinking that the coronavirus is there, which creates an immune response to protect it for the next time. How this happens is different for each type of vaccination. Pfizer vaccine is now both similar to how they do it and has similar efficacy. “

Dr Scalzone adds that a comprehensive system has been put in place at hospitals where patients receive vaccine tickets to keep track of who is receiving what and when.

He also says he believes both vaccines are safe and effective and encourages people to be vaccinated as soon as they can.
