Guilty Gear Strive is likely to receive a second open beta before its June release to address the server and lobbying issues of the first

There are no objections here

The open beta of Guilty Gear Strive may have attracted more interest from the wider combat community than the series has ever achieved in the past, and while that may have partially led to the game being delayed a few months later, we may not have to do not wait long to play it.

Arc System Works recently said during their New Game + Expo presentation that the team wants to run a second open beta to address the problems of the first.

“We are currently investigating the possibility of a second open beta test,” said Akira Katano, director of Strive. “There, of course, we could not only look at the server problems we had, but also at the possibilities to improve the lobbying experience.”

This may indicate something that many people in the community have guessed from the previous beta that the number of players exceeded ArcSys’ expectations and that their servers could handle, leading to downtime and sometimes problems with other players.

Strive’s foyer system is the biggest knock against the game most players had after the beta of this year and in 2020, but the team seems to be focusing on spending the next few months redesigning their current design, with two months not nearly enough time to make significant changes to what they have already done.

“Of course, we review everything that happened during the open beta test, including data collection and everyone’s recordings, so thank you for filling it out,” Katano said. “Be patient with us and we work hard to improve the experience.”

“At the moment we are investigating the possibility of a second open beta test. There, of course, we were able to investigate not only the server problems we had, but also the possibilities to improve the lobbying experience.”

Some details they talked about for a second beta / full version were the need to improve the pace of matches, but many will probably be happy to have a quick repeat button just next time.

They also want to address issues in the lobby where players are unable to connect with other users or may not know when or not.

‘One [issue] for example, the pace of matches we understand is not entirely up to par, and that’s a combination of certain flaws in the game, as well as the actual flow itself, “Katano said. We are therefore exploring ways to improve it. “

No possible window was given for when we could see the second proposed open beta, but if we look back at the timing of the last one compared to the previous April date, it suggests that early May would be the most likely place to do things to take back online.

ArcSys has confirmed that the overall balance level in Strive’s open beta was something of a rough estimate of where they want the game at launch, so Katano warns that any crazy things found in past betas are unlikely to follow. do not be time we are going to play the game.

In addition, a second open beta could open the doors to enable everyone to try out Strive’s last two main roster members in Anji Mito and I-No, who were not ready to take part in the first.

We could not even see their big Overdrive Supers in the game breaks because ArcSys says they were not ready yet.

Guilty Gear Strive will now launch on June 11, 2021, though players can access the game a few days early by pre-ordering the luxury edition with the bonus content.

During the same event, Katano also confirmed ArcSys is figuring out if they can also add a backlink network code to more of their older fighting games.
