Some new comments from Rockstar Games’ parent company Take-Two Interactive look forward to PS5 and Xbox Series X players GTA 6 a little worried and holding their purses tightly. On PS5 and Xbox Series X, some games cost $ 70. On PS4 and Xbox One, games never exceeded the $ 60 price point we’ve had for more than a decade. And some games still cost $ 60, but publishers are slowly but surely moving to the $ 70 price point. Last year, Take-Two Interactive charged $ 70 for NBA 2K21 on PS5 and Xbox Series X. And now it sounds like it could charge $ 70 for more games going forward, which does car theft fans on alert.
As you would expect, there was a bit of a setback over the price increase of some games, but apparently not enough. At the Morgan Stanley Technology, Media & Telecom conference this month, Strauss Zelnick, CEO of Take-Two Interactive, revealed that Take-Two believes consumers are ready for the increase.
‘We announced a price of $ 70 for NBA 2K21, and our view was that we offer a variety of exceptional experiences, lots of playability and the last time there was a leading price increase in the US, 2005, 2006, so we think consumers were ready for it, ‘said the CEO .
Happy for car theft fans, Zelnick followed this up by noting that he and his team do not think that every game will be this price point, because not every game justifies the increase; however, it sounds like the biggest games will make this leap.
“We have so far said nothing about the pricing of other titles, and we tend to do title-by-title announcements, but I think we always believe in delivering more value.”
During the same conference, Zelnick also – finally – shared the rumors and speculations of GTA 6but, surprisingly, his answer was not very revealing.
