Berkeleyside share it a message about extensive COVID-19 vaccination for certain groups from the city of Berkeley. It was published on February 15 and appears in full below.
We are expanding the suitability for COVID-19 vaccines coordinated by the city, and include anyone living or working in Berkeley who currently works in grocery stores, convenience stores, or educational and child care facilities.
Those who fit into one of these groups, as well as Berkeley residents who are at least 65 years old, can now register for appointments at a vaccination center at the foot of Buchanan Street in Albany. Appointments are available on Wednesday 17 February – Saturday 20 February. (Edit: These appointments will be filled from Tuesday 16 February)
Update, 16/02/21: Initial appointments have been filled, but places may open due to cancellations or if more stock is available. Alameda County is also planning the appointment of vaccines for adults 65 and older and workers in food and agriculture, emergency services, and education and child care. Check availability and sign up at myturn.ca.gov.
After the schedule, you will receive an email with the date and time of your appointment. We will verify appointments with identification on the site. You will not be asked about immigration status.
COVID-19 vaccines are free for everyone. You do not need any insurance to get a vaccine. However, those who have medical insurance will need to provide their insurance information.

To qualify for these appointments, people under 65 must live or work in Berkeley and currently work:
- in a grocery store or grocery store
- personal education or childcare services (this includes personal childcare in informal settings, such as nannies)
- as a health worker or home carer
- Education workers who provide remote control only are not eligible for these appointments. *
Those who receive the vaccine on the basis of their service must provide documentation to confirm suitability at the site. They can:
- a recent payment stick
- a letter from their employer (download a sample letter)
- an employee ID badge
- If you use an employee ID badge without a photo, you must have a photo ID to identify.
Instructions: Upload photo of medical ID card
If you have health insurance, you will be asked to upload a photo of your medical ID card when planning your appointment.
Follow these steps to add your card:
- Take a picture of your card.
- Send the photo to your email.
- Open email and save the photo in a file on your computer.
- Upload the photo from the saved file using file manager.
- If you are unable to do so on the insurance page, click on the box labeled “I do not have my insurance card” and click Continue to go to the next screen. You may need to enter additional medical information. Bring your medical card to the appointment.
If you do not have health insurance, you should disregard these instructions. You do not need any insurance to be vaccinated and you will not receive a vaccine.

Sign up for notice lists with limited vaccine supply
The limited national supply of COVID-19 vaccines means that it will take many months for vaccines to reach the general population.
No matter what your age, you can prepare by understanding who your healthcare provider is and signing up for general notice lists. The supply is limited everywhere, so sign up for as many lists as possible to get a vaccine:
City of Berkeley Vaccination List
Vaccination Notice List for Alameda County Residents
Alameda County Employer Vaccine Information List
State of California (“My Turn”) Vaccination Notification List
The City of Berkeley list will be used to notify people when Berkeley Public Health makes new vaccination opportunities available.
No matter what list you are on, keep an eye on your email and take immediate action when you receive a notification that you are eligible to make an appointment.
