‘Grey’s Anatomy,’ This Is Us’, ‘The Orville’, ‘911’, ‘LMS’ and ‘AHS’ Among 16 Disney TV Studios LA Series to Expand Hiatus Amid Covid-19 Surge

Disney Television Studios has joined other major TV studios to pursue the start of production for Los Angeles after the holidays amid an unprecedented increase in coronavirus infections and deaths in Covid-19 in Los Angeles County.

Sixteen screenplay series produced by Disney TV Studios’ ABC Signature and 20th television sections will be interrupted with holidays until January 18, when production resumes. The shows would appear again after production on January 11 or a few days earlier.

The 16 series are: ABCs Grey’s Anatomy, Station 19, American Housewife, Black-ish, Mixed-ish and Rebel, NBC’s It’s us, Fox’s 911, 911: Lone Star and Last man standing, FX’s American Crime Story: Impeachment, American Horror Story and Maja; Disney +’s Big shot, Hulu’s The Orville and Love, Victor.

‘Brooklyn Nine-Nine’, ‘Good Girls’ and ‘Never Have I Ever’ among universal TV series delaying production amid Covid-19 Surge in Los Angeles

This is the latest date on which production in the current series has been postponed so far. The other studios that offer holiday breaks for LA-based programs, CBS Studios, Warner Bros. TV and Universal TV extended, largely added a week and production starts from January 4 to 11, with Uni TVs. Brooklyn Nine-Nine delayed until 18 January.

The TV studios are responding to a call by the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health urging the film and TV industry to halt production for a few weeks during the continuing increase in coronavirus cases in the country. Studios and streamers checked the logistics involved, including the availability of talent and whether cast and crew would be paid for the extra idle days.

By holding the shows while the test resumes, the productions meet the new guidelines of the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health for those who come to self-quarantine at least ten days after non-essential travel.

On New Year’s Eve, Los Angeles County reported a third consecutive day of coronavirus-related deaths. On Wednesday, the region recorded its 10,000th death related to the virus. The province’s ICU capacity is at 0%. Earlier this week, the local home order for Southern California was extended until January 16th.
