Browns corner line Greedy Williams’ 2020 season ended before it began. He injured his right shoulder during a branch practice on August 24.
No one knew the extent at the time, not even Williams.
I thought, ‘It’s just a sting; I’ll practice tomorrow, ” Williams told Mary Kay Cabot of cleveland.com. ” I do not trippin. ”
The Browns’ rating changed from day to day to week to week. He regularly underwent electromyography tests in which fine needles were placed in the shoulder to get the muscle on fire. Nothing.
“After three or four days, it was still numb and sore, and we waited about a week or two, and it was still the same,” Williams said.
The Browns placed Williams on the injured reserve on Oct. 12. By that time, Williams and the Browns knew he had severe damage to the armpit nerve in his shoulder, which affected the deltoid muscle, among other things.
Doctors told him it was a six to twelve month injury.
He started improving in his shoulder about a month ago. Williams, who checked with the Browns’ medical staff on Monday, estimates he is about 60 percent back.
“When I was first able to just grab my body and hold it alone, it was just like a big shock to me, and I was happy,” Williams said. ‘I could not wait to tell [the Browns medical staff] about the progress and how the shoulder moved. From then on there was a lot of excitement. ”
Williams, a pick in the second round in 2019, made 47 tackles and two passes in the twelve games of the game.
