Governor’s Most Popular Holiday Vacation in Michigan, Despite Whitmer’s Travel Warning

Gretchen Whitmer, a leading Michigan assistant, was on vacation in Florida after the governor urged residents to travel amid the worst Covid transmission rates in the state.

Governor Tricia Foster posted photos of her vacation in Siesta Key earlier this week.

On the screenshots of the report, obtained by The Detroit News, Foster confirms that she was in Siesta Key. “Are you in Siesta Key? I swear I saw you walking today,” one Facebook friend commented on Foster’s report. “Probably,” Foster replied.

After Breitbart first reported on the trip, Foster deleted the message.

In another comment, Foster writes that someone, who according to Breitbart ‘apparently’ is her son, missed the trip and ‘was home with a covid’. Whitmer said family members of someone who tests positive for Covid should have self-quarantine and avoid travel.

“Where’s [redacted]? “one Facebook user commented on Foster’s post.”[Redacted] house with covid. Mis syne [senior] travel to Bahamas plans girls plan 24 hours before flight, ‘Foster replies.

A Whitmer spokesman said Foster had “fully recovered” from Covid-19 and had been fully vaccinated. Foster’s post contains photos of a number of people who were apparently traveling in their teens. Michiganders 16 and older are only eligible to receive the vaccine since April 5th. The governor’s office could not be immediately reached to confirm whether it was Foster’s children and whether they had also been vaccinated.

“This is a biased attack by a white nationalist website,” spokesman Bobby Leddy said in a statement. “Trish Foster has been fully recovered from COVID and fully vaccinated.”

He pointed to the new Centers for Disease Control (CDC) guidelines which state that people who are fully vaccinated can travel within the US without being quarantined or tested afterwards.

During comments on April 2, Whitmer recommends that everyone be tested after any kind of trip, even in the state. Michigan has led the country in Covid-19 cases for seven consecutive weeks and now reports more than 7,000 coronavirus infections per day.

Whitmer has repeatedly expressed his concern about Spring Breakers traveling to Florida. She appealed to people returning from the Sunshine States to work from home for a week or to teach their children at a distance for a week.

“Yes, I’m worried” about travel between the states, the governor told reporters last week. “That’s why we really encourage people to get vaccinated.”
