Governor Lamont, Mohegan Tribe, and Yale New Haven Health Announce Introduction to Mass COVID-19 Vaccine Clinic at Mohegan Sun

(HARTFORD, CT) – In an ongoing effort to meet public health needs regarding the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, Governor Ned Lamont, the Mohegan Tribe and the Yale New Haven Health System today announced plans to open a large-scale community vaccination system at Mohegan Sun.

The clinic will open on Friday, February 19, 2021 and is located in Mohegan Sun’s Earth Expo & Convention Center. This is by appointment only, weather permitting, and is available to Connecticut residents.

On the first day of surgery, the clinic is expected to serve up to 300 Connecticut residents with the ability to increase the distribution of vaccines based on availability. Additional appointments will be added regularly as the federal government gets more stock of the vaccine. It will operate in accordance with existing state rules and procedures regarding vaccination.

Connecticut residents who are eligible to be vaccinated can schedule an appointment for the clinic by visiting them www.ynhhs.org/covidvaccine and select the Mohegan Sun location. Appointments are also available via the state’s COVID Vaccine Appointment Assist Line (877-918-2224), which is open seven days a week from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.

“This latest mass vaccination site demonstrates the coordinated effort our state is making with our fellow tribesmen and our partners in health care,” Governor Lamont said. ‘The Mohegan tribe has taken incredible steps throughout the pandemic to keep its members and residents safe through stand-up test sites, distribution of PBT and coordination with the Connecticut Department of Public Health. We will get through this pandemic by working together, especially in the distribution of vaccines, and that is exactly what this site proposes. ”

“The Mohegan tribe has a long philosophy of cooperation and collaboration with our neighbors, and during this pandemic, we practiced these values every day,” James Gessner, chairman of the Mohegan tribe, said. “Whether it meant stopping operations temporarily, installing new modern safety technology, spreading PBT among healthcare partners or delivering COVID testing to the community, Mohegan is working hard to help Connecticut manage this crisis. The next step in the work will serve as a hub in southeastern Connecticut for the state’s vaccination efforts. We are proud to continue to help serve our community and are eager to help Connecticut get as many state residents vaccinated as quickly as possible. ”

“We are pleased to offer more COVID-19 vaccinations to the residents of southeastern Connecticut,” Patrick Green, President and CEO of L + M Healthcare, said. ‘The Mohegan Sun Community Vaccine is another extension of the remarkable partnership between our organizations to prioritize the health and well-being of the communities we serve. Our teams work 24 hours to streamline the vaccination process for as many people as we can. It’s a privilege to be in a position where we can open another community vaccination site with our Mohegan colleagues. ”

In the current phase of Connecticut’s vaccination program, individuals 65 years of age and older are eligible to be vaccinated and will soon expand to include more suitable groups. Feel free to visit for updates on the phase’s commencement ct.gov/covidvaccine.
