Governor Andrew M. Cuomo announced today that 106,017 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine will be administered in New York within 24 hours. Today at 11 a.m., the distribution sites in New York received 2,002,055 first doses and have already administered 89 percent or 1,787,189 vaccinations in the first dose and 81 percent of the first and second doses. The week 9 award from the federal government is still being delivered to providers for administration.

“We have reached an important milestone in the COVID war. Our infection rate is still declining and more than ten percent of New Yorkers have now received the first dose of vaccine.” Governor Cuomo said. “This is mainly due to our extensive vaccination network of suppliers, pop-up and mass vaccination sites that improve access and equity in the vaccine distribution process. With a trusted partner in the White House working to produce and supply the vaccine to increase, we can and have remained laser-focused to get the supply of each week in as many arms as quickly and fairly as possible, while still strengthening public confidence in the vaccine. We still have a long way to go “But we are moving in the right direction and I am confident that New York will be the first COVID – free state.”

About 7 million New Yorkers can currently receive the vaccine. The federal government increased its weekly supply by more than 20 percent next week, but the large distribution network in New York and the large population of eligible individuals still exceed the supply coming from the federal government. Due to the limited supply, New Yorkers are encouraged to be patient and are advised not to show up at the vaccination sites without an appointment.

The vaccination program numbers below are for doses distributed and delivered to the New York State vaccination program, and do not include those reserved for the federal government’s long-term care program. A breakdown of the data based on numbers reported to New York State by 11 a.m. today is as follows. The allocation totals below contain 40 percent of the Week 9 award that will be distributed to New York provider sites on Sunday. The total week 9 total allocation also includes some excess vaccine doses that were re-allocated to the federal long-term care program.

To date, New York distribution sites have administered 89 percent of the first doses of the federal government, but due to the limited allocation from the federal government, the appointments have been quickly filled. New Yorkers who want to determine fitness and plan an appointment at a state-run mass vaccination center can visit the “Am I Eligible” website. New Yorkers can also call their local health department, pharmacy, doctor, or hospital for additional information and to schedule appointments where vaccinations are available.

The COVID-19 Vaccine Tracker Dashboard is available to keep New Yorkers informed of the spread of the COVID-19 vaccine. The New York Department of Health requires that vaccination facilities report all data on COVID-19 vaccine data within 24 hours; the data on vaccine administration on the dashboard are updated daily to reflect the most recent measures in the state’s vaccination effort.

New Yorkers who suspect fraud in the vaccine distribution process can now call 833-VAX-SCAM (833-829-7226) free of charge or email the State Department at: [email protected]. Hotline staff will send complaints to the appropriate investigative agencies to ensure that New Yorkers are not exploited as the state works to vaccinate the entire population.
