Gotham Knights and Hogwarts Legacy may soon get concrete release dates and brand new information, according to new worklists at Warner Bros.
WB Montreal’s Gotham Knights may get new information soon. New mailing lists indicate that Warner Bros. researching what can help people market games effectively Gotham Knights and Hogwarts Legacy, indicating that the studio is set to double the two titles.
Gotham Knights was unveiled last summer at DC Fandome and showcases a new side of the Batman universe in video games. After Batman’s death, people like Red Hood, Robin, Nightwing and Batgirl work together to keep going Gotham City safely and seemingly go to the ominous court of owls. The game can be played in solo or cooperative and will be a unique direction for WB Montreal, especially following the team’s work on Batman: Arkham Origins.
Details have been scarce since the match was announced, but it looks like World Cup is getting ready to showcase both Gotham Knights and Hogwarts Legacy, an RPG set in the Harry Potter universe. James Sigfield pointed out on Twitter (via ComicBook.com) that WB appoint a “co-manager of brand marketing” and a “submission specialist”. Both will help play key roles in the marketing of both of these titles, which probably means that the publisher has a good idea of when both titles will be released and that he wants to focus more on that through marketing and the game ready for release.
Hogwarts Legacy has been postponed until 2022, but the fact that WB is getting clumsy about mapping a marketing strategy could mean that it will be released in the first half of next year. Unless WB plans its own event for the spring, similar to DC Fandome, it is quite possible that the company will give concrete release dates to both Hs.ogwarts Legacy and Gotham Knights at E3’s digital event (or a similar summer-related event). This is pure speculation, but since WB will have to hire people and develop a marketing strategy internally, it will take some time before it can be seen by the public.
Nevertheless, it shows confidence in both titles. If WB has a proper marketing plan for Gotham Knights and Hogwarts Legacy, which means the company has release dates in sight for both titles. Delays are of course possible, but it seems unlikely that they will get much pressure unless something goes catastrophically wrong and it is non-negotiable. That said, it looks like both games will come sooner rather than later.
