CASPER, Wyo – As of Jan. 9, updated orders for public health in Wyoming will allow pubs and restaurants to resume on-site consumption from 10 p.m. to 5 p.m., Governor Mark Gordon’s office announced Saturday.

The updated public health orders will also allow gyms to increase the number of group fitness class participants from 10 to 25.

The 19th continuation of the orders is effective on January 9th and expires on January 25th.

Gordon praised the response from Wyoming citizens that led to a decline in COVID-19 hospitalizations around the state.

“Many thanks to the people of Wyoming who acknowledged the stress on their hospitals and health care workers and acted accordingly,” Gordon said.

“I would also like to express my gratitude to the businesses that have adapted to these temporary measures. It was not an easy time for anyone. We are not out of the woods yet, but continued personal safety measures while the vaccine is being distributed will enable our state’s schools and businesses to remain open. ”

However, the release notes that December was the deadliest month yet for Wyoming during the pandemic, with 223 COVID-19-related deaths

The Wyoming Department of Health will continue evaluating measures as the state recovers from the holiday season, the governor’s release said Saturday. Provinces are still unable to choose the requirements if local conditions move to safer levels in line with White House standards.

From the release:

On Dec. 30, Wyoming hospitals reported 113 COVID-19 patients in the hospital, from a peak of 247 on Nov. 30. However, the state reported 223 COVID-19 deaths in December, the highest number since the pandemic began in March. Wyoming has also begun distributing the COVID-19 vaccine, using a phased approach due to the limited initial vaccine available.
