GOP Senator Cornyn questions whether Biden is ‘really in control’

Sen. John Cornyn, R-Texas, on Monday questioned whether President Biden is “really in control” as the president maintains a much lower profile than his predecessors.

The Texas senator questioned the president’s leadership in a Twitter thread targeting Biden’s sparse media presence, where he shared a link to a Politico article on the Biden administration’s communication strategy.

Cornyn quoted a section of the article that pointed out that Biden ‘does not conduct cable news interviews’ and that his ‘restricted’ social media messages online are ‘unimaginably conventional’ when it comes down to it.

“The public’s comments were largely put in writing,” the excerpt continued. “Biden has opted for fewer sit-in interviews with top sales and reporters.”

Cornyn then said the administration’s communication strategy to keep Biden out of the spotlight raises the question of whether the president was really at the helm of his government.

“Invite the question: is he really at the helm?” wrote Cornyn.

In the Politico article, Kate Berner, White House Deputy Communications Director, said the administration’s communication strategy is “based on innovation in the digital space, flooding the area in local and coalition press, and making effective use of traditional national media.”

“He’s the president, he has a lot on his plate. We have people waving from different media every day to reinforce his message,” Berner continued. “We do not let his schedule be a limiting factor for us.”

Berner said the government also uses the cabinet to liaise with a “public with whom they can speak uniquely.”

The White House did not immediately respond to Fox News’ request for comment on Cornyn’s tweets.

Biden’s silence in the media has become a major theme in the government’s president.
