GOP representative Adam Kinzinger receives letter from 11 family members rejecting him over Trump opposition

Rep. Adam Kinzinger, a six-time Republican congressman representing Illinois, received a handwritten letter from 11 family members rejecting him over his opposition to former President Donald Trump, Fox News confirmed.

“Alas, what a disappointment you are to us and to God! We were once so proud of your achievements! Instead, you go against your Christian principles and join the ‘devil army’ (Democrats and the fake news media ), “read the letter, first reported by The New York Times.

It was dated January 8, two days after rioters stormed the U.S. Capitol, forcing lawmakers to hide and temporarily delaying the certification of Joe Biden’s Electoral College Congress. Kinzinger called for the 25th Amendment to be used to remove Trump from office before inauguration day, and was later one of ten Republicans who, along with House Democrats, decided to charge him.

KINGZINGER LAUNCHES NEW PAC TO RETURN ‘GOP’ FROM TRUMP

Trump was finally acquitted by the Senate on Saturday, but seven Republican senators voted to convict him.

The two-page letter goes on to defend Trump as a man of Christian faith and criticizes Kinzinger for attacking the former president, saying: ‘You will not convince us otherwise with your horrible, rude accusations of President Trump (to a party that believes in abortion and socialism is the ultimate sin.) ”

“It is now the most embarrassing for us that our family is yours. You have embarrassed the Kinzinger family name,” the letter continues.

“We are very disgusting of you !! And, oh, by the way, we ask that you be removed from office,” it concludes. “President Trump has done more for the American people in four years than you, the Rhinos and the Democrats have done in years !!”

TRUMP ADVISOR SS FORMER PRESIDENT TO STAY ‘ACTIVELY INVOLVED’ IN GOP

Kinzinger’s cousin Karen Otto told The New York Times that she penned the letter, which included signatures of ten other family members, and paid $ 7 to send it by certified mail to the congressman’s father. She also said she sent copies to Republicans in Illinois and the state congressional delegation. The La Salle County GOP has already condemned Kinzinger last month.

“I wanted Adam to be avoided,” Otto said in an interview with the newspaper.

Kinzinger launched a political action committee (PAC) last month to push back against a leadership team and party from the House of the GOP that he said was too close to the former president. The ‘Country 1st’ PAC, introduced in a six-minute video, will challenge the current direction of a Republican Party that, according to Kinzinger, mistakenly became a ‘Trump first party’, to the detriment of the country.

The Illinois congressman cited the apparent reluctance of most Republicans to hold Trump accountable for his role in encouraging violence on Jan. 6, as well as the party’s support for lawmakers like Georgia, Marjorie Taylor Greene, who criticized posts on social media in the past. in which she proposes support for the assassination of Democratic politicians, unfounded QAnon theories and racist views.

Kinzinger also criticized the leadership of House minority leader Kevin McCarthy, R-California, who initially said after the riot that Trump was responsible for the violence. But after meeting privately with the former president in Florida last week, McCarthy tweeted in support: “United and ready to win in ’22.” Kinzinger also cites the GOP’s efforts to repatriate Wyoming. Remove Liz Cheney from the leadership team because she voted to accuse Trump.
