Google’s customizable load on pixels is strangely limited

As part of the December Pixel Feature Drop, Google has announced a new feature for certain Pixel phones called Adaptive Charging. The idea for Adaptive Charging was to provide a solution that could help take care of your battery by loading it constantly over a long period of time rather than fast.

I’m not sure if there was much confusion about how Adaptive Charging would work (we assumed it would work at night and charge a phone), but a Google support page for the feature contains exactly when you have Pixel 4, Pixel 4a , or Pixel 5 will try to activate it.

To use the new battery charging feature, you must first turn it on (Settings> Battery> Customizable battery). Once done, your phone will search for two things: 1) that you start charging your phone after 9pm and; 2) an active alarm is set between 5-10 hours. If you do not comply, Google will say, “Otherwise, charge your phone normally.”

So this is obviously not great for those with alternative schedules or who use no alarm. If you work at night and sleep during the day or plan to wake up earlier than 5am, Adaptive Charging will apparently never start. I’m the type who rarely raises the alarm, so it’s like I’ll never benefit from this and I’ll never be able to. take care of my battery.

Why Google can not use all the luxury AI, never stop them from predicting when your sleep program is or that your battery is low and that it can sit on a charger for a long time to cause Adaptive Charging is strange. Hell, even a hand switch would be nice rather than this limited scheduling.
