Google Sets Date to Delete Your Google Play Music Library

Google Play Music officially closed the store in December last year, but Google still gives some users extra time to download their libraries before deleting them and disappearing the data forever. February 24th is apparently the date they tell people by email, and that leaves you about three weeks to make a decision about the future of your music library.

Google will allow you to download the data via Google Takeout if you have not already done so, even if you have transferred it to YouTube Music. You can also make another transfer if you have made changes to your Play Music library that you would like to see on YouTube Music.

But again, this is more about your Play Music data and that its days are numbered. On February 24, Google says it will remove it all. It will be gone. Thrown in the trash. Chopped with a believe-space laser. Tree. If you are not happy with the way things are transferred and you have enough space open on a hard drive, you may want to consider storing everything for a while while figuring out which music service you want to use going forward.
