Google Search gets a new, lighter, vibrant design for mobile devices. It starts ‘in the coming days’. Here’s what it looks like:
For reference, this is what the old search looked like:
Some of the changes include:
- A brighter design that allows people to focus on information “instead of the design elements around it.”
- Bold text in search results, making it easier to distinguish between different types of information. It also includes the use of more of ‘Google’s own font’.
- The results are now edge-to-edge, rather than surrounding it in small cards with shadows. It gives results a little more space and eliminates visual distraction
- Colors are used more purposefully and are used to highlight certain types of information rather than distracting
- Everything is rounder for more of the Google-y atmosphere.
