Google Pixel Phones Hit by Daylight Saving Time (DST) Error

Since it started this morning in the US and Canada, some Google Pixel phones did not update to the prescribed time. Fortunately, a quick Google reboot fixes the Pixel DST error.

There are several reports this morning of Google Pixel owners in all generations not jumping from 2am to 3am. For some people, this release has the functionality of the Google Clock app “Automatic home clock” activated, when you “travel in an area where the time is different ”becomes a” clock for home “added. The real time appeared for the users in the Clock app, just not for the system.

Google’s Pixel phones have historically not seen a problem with Daylight Saving, and reporting issues today use the default preference “network-provided time” and “time zone” (Settings> System> Date and time).

The solution is thankfully a simple Pixel reload, but it was still an inconvenience for some. Nest Hub and other Assistant Smart Screen owners have not experienced such an issue today, and Google has a nice social message about it.

This does not appear to be a universal issue, as our devices on the outside have not been affected, but there have been a surprisingly large number of reports over the past few hours, and users relying on their Pixel at the time (and alarms) , was uncomfortable to think that today’s DOS change would be automatically submitted as before.

The company did not acknowledge the mistake, but Made by Google did it (quite amusingly) tweet on DST, Pixel and Pi Day this morning.
