Google Photos has quietly added deeper integration with Google Lens. The new tools are available when you tap the Lens icon while viewing a single item in the Google Photos app.
According to Android Policewith the tool, it’s easy to search inside a photo directly from the Photos app. With the tools integrated in Photos, you can type, translate, copy, search, and transfer text selected by Lens to a computer connected by Google. If you have built-in features in Google Photos, you do not have to bounce between multiple apps.

It’s unclear when these Google Lens tools are integrated into Photos, but it’s part of Google’s larger effort to bring Lens features to other Google experiences. Google, for example, has pushed its official camera and search applications with lens features. Google has also made Lens more powerful in general, introducing a new educational mode for solving math problems, Google Shopping integration, and more.
According to Android Police, sources claim that the new Google Photos text recognition interface is new, although it is unclear how widely the tool is available. You need both Google Lens and Google Photos to take advantage of the deeper integration.
If you’re a Google Photos user, there’s a big deal right now. The service will begin with the restriction of free storage from June 1st. Google says free users will be limited to the additional 15 GB of storage that comes with each Google Account. After that, you have to pay monthly for a Google One subscription, starting at $ 1.99 per month ($ 19.99 per year) for 100 GB.
In addition to the transition to a subscriber model, Google has introduced premium features on Photos over the past few months. The premium features, including advanced video editing tools, are only available to subscribers.
