Google Nest Hello, IQ Cameras Partially Interrupted

If you receive notifications from Nest that some of your cameras are offline, you are not alone. Nest today confirmed a partial interruption that appears to be affecting some cameras, most notably the Nest Hello video doorbell.

This partial interruption, noted on the Nest Status Dashboard, has removed some video and video history for some users, but does not appear to affect all devices. Rather, it seems that only specific devices are affected.

In our testing, we found that the Nest Hello and Nest Cam IQ products are mainly affected by this interruption, with traditional Nest Cams, Nest Cam Outdoor and Nest Hub Max working mostly well. However, we noticed that the original Nest Cam seems to be ignoring the command to turn itself off during this partial interruption.

Our Nest Hello unit apparently only went offline about 12 hours ET when we published this article. This is about the same time that an increase in user reports of the Nest outage has increased DownDetector, with many comments confirming that the Nest Hello and Cam IQ devices are most affected.

The outbreak in the US seems to be at least nationwide, and we have also seen reports from the EU. Google it confirm that the Nest team is aware of the problem and is working to resolve it. We will continue to update this article as the situation develops.

Update 16:30: Google says on Twitter that these issues need to be resolved. We can confirm that our Nest Hello Doorbell and Nest Cam IQ are working at this point.
