If you work from home, chances are you have been dealing with a large amount of video calls constantly for most of a year. Although there are advantages over face-to-face meetings, it can and can go wrong.
Fortunately, Google Measure is getting a very handy upgrade in the form of a ‘green room’. This means that it will be easier to check if everything is working properly, and you look beneficial before joining a video conference.
The concept here is nothing particularly new. Google Meet has included this type of buffer zone for a while, so you can prepare yourself for meetings before anyone can see you. Whether it means checking your camera in the right place, blurring your background, seeing who’s still calling, and so on.
The important change here is the inclusion of a button that says, ‘Watch your audio and video.’ Allows you to record a six-second video clip showing how you look and sound to everyone in the meeting. It will also have your microphone, speaker, camera and internet connection to make sure it all performs.
This means that you can reach the point without worrying that no one can see or hear you properly. It also lets you see which hardware is going to work best. It’s okay to wear headphones, but what if your laptop’s microphone is clearer? These are all things you can find out before entering your meetings.
The feature is currently available, and all you have to do is click on your Google Meet link. The “Watch your audio and video” button is at the bottom of the screen and guides you through the entire process.
