Google makes small but useful changes to Gmail

Google’s Gmail app is the leading email application in the world. But that does not mean that the app is perfect. AndroidPolice has discovered a change to the Android version of Gmail that makes it easier to copy and paste an email address. With the change made by Google, Android users type in an email address in the Text, Copy or Bcc text fields, and that email address appears with two new options: ‘Copy’ and ‘Delete’. The former will copy the text and the latter will remove the address from the field.
The old way of doing this required the user to enter a long email address which in turn contained a pop-up with a copy button. Of course, the new method will not save you much time, but if you frequently copy and paste email addresses using Gmail, this new process may be a little more streamlined. Nor will it cover the text of the email as the old method did. The email address you copied ends up on the clipboard from where it can be pasted on your phone in other fields outside of Gmail.

Google seems to be pushing this change to devices with Gmail for Android v2021.02.05.357775197. Not everyone with this version of the Gmail app has the new feature that indicates that Google distributes it using the AB process known for it. It did appear on our Pixel 2 XL with Android 11, which is the source of the screenshots above.
