Google Lens may be an incredibly handy tool that could just as well have been science fiction a few years back, but it looks like Google is having issues with one brand for its image analysis service. In a Google search bar of our tipster, a new icon appears that looks more like a camera than the previous version, indicating that many people find the old icon difficult to understand.
So far, we have not been able to find the new Lens icon anywhere else – the Play Store list for the shortcut app still shows the current May 2019 design, and so does the Google app on our phones. The new version seems to be part of a limited a / b test for now, so it’s still unclear if Google will even get through with the new design. The company might just test whether people are more likely to use Lens if its icon looks more like a camera.

Since Google first redesigned the Lens icon during Google I / O 2019, the new variant comes as a bit of a surprise – after all, the 2019 icon already fits nicely into the icon color scheme that Google is slowly introducing for all its applications. . But it is quite possible that many people may find the 2019 icon difficult to understand, as it only looks a bit like a camera, so a redesign that comes closer to the right thing may not be the worst idea.
