Google Lens gets a built-in gallery to quickly pull up images

The Google Lens app is set to analyze live images today, but a new gallery view makes it easier to sift through screenshots and other photos already in your camera roll.

Lens on Android, which was last redesigned in September, has long had a button to the left of the shutter to launch the Files app from your device. A recent beta update introduced a gallery view showing a full screen with thumbnails.

The top of the screen shows you eight most recent screenshots with a “See All” button in the corner. When you tap an image, Google Lens will automatically process it. The rest of this page is dedicated to ‘All images’. This is a much more optimal way of doing things than manually scrolling through your file system and folders for images to analyze.

That said, this experience is very similar to Google Photos. This is useful for users who have the Lens icon on their home screen and only use visual searches through the ‘app’.

Lens is being updated by the Google app and this gallery is currently available in the beta channel (version 12.8 and later).
