Google is right for the time being to change anything about how Search works. You are not just playing with your core product. But today, a long-awaited adaptation finally begins for news coverage appearing in Search. Google’s full coverage feature – which first launched with Google News in 2018 and which was announced by the company that it would be coming to Search all the time in 2019, is now available for a little extra context for great to tell stories.

The feature aims to help people understand what’s happening in the news, especially for complex topics that are constantly changing. For such topics, as in development stories, you will find a new “more news on” button under the currently generated carousel that opens an additional page with links to more coverage sites, further organized into categories such as “top news” of bigger names and ” local news “for publishers closer to you, giving you various angles to analyze the developments.

Google can also pull long stories that last longer – the ongoing pandemic is a good example – and provide up-to-date related coverage that improves the environment nearby. So when a big story happens on a topic, you also see things like explanations about past history or earlier developments to fill in the gaps in knowledge.

In short: if you do not have time to research a topic when a big story hits, Google makes it easy to get some background, multiple perspectives, and contextual details.

The new full coverage feature is available today on mobile devices in English in the US, with other languages and locations planned later.
