I use the Google Home app very often to control my lights and various other smart home gadgets, but I have to admit that I completely forgot the second tab in the bottom navigation of the app. This is a stream that alerts you to certain events in your home, such as adding or removing devices or Wi-Fi status updates. Google has just expanded a new settings menu that allows you to customize the types of notifications in this stream.

For me, there are two types of events for which I can turn off alerts. In the ‘Whole house’ section, there is ‘Network status’ and ‘Wi-Fi activity’, both of which are on. According to 9to5Google’s screenshots, routines would also appear here if I enabled it.

The other section that is visible to me are ‘cameras’ with switches for ‘People’ or ‘Motion’ events for my Nest Hub Max – to be clear, it will not completely eliminate those events, but only prevent them appears in my house. feed. I can see how this can cause confusion.

‘Cookie’ I casually call my Hub Max.

All in all, it is a fairly harmless menu that many users are unlikely to get excited about. If someone is using it outside the home feed, it can be quite helpful. This settings section is now being implemented, although it is unclear if it is part of Google Home version 2.35.1.6 or with a separate server server. Either way, having the latest version will probably help – you can download it from APK Mirror if it does not reach you yet.
