Since the beginning of December, Google has left many of its iOS apps without updates, which has raised questions and even created issues. Users have briefly noticed that ‘this app is out of date’ when signing in to their Google Accounts. However, the drought is finally coming to an end. As 9to5Google reports, Google has finally resumed updating its major iOS apps with a review to YouTube. While this is “just” a bug fix, it does suggest that Gmail and other apps may be upgrading soon.
It is not certain what caused the long wait. Some have suggested that Google has objections to Apple’s nutrition labels for app privacy, but the company has no objections. He promised it would add the privacy details as it updated iOS apps, and quietly updated YouTube apps (Music, Studio and TV) earlier in February. We asked Google for comments.
There is pressure to update other programs soon. While Google may push some features through updates to the server and on the Internet, applications like Chrome can be vulnerable to security issues if not loaded. There is also the chance of future technical problems. If the YouTube solution is the start of a bigger wave of upgrades, it could ease iPhone and iPad users who rely heavily on Google services.
