It contains top and local news headlines, along with contexts such as commentators, interviews and in-depth coverage on topics such as COVID-19 and the US election. Google is now adding full coverage to Search.
It builds on the news results already displayed in Search. you can access the full page for the topic (if there is one) by scrolling to the end of the top stories or by clicking on the “More news about …” link below the carousel.
Except for local headlines, full coverage contains the same mix of stories and information for everyone, rather than personalizing it. Google says its technology has been upgraded to identify important stories and events that take place over a few days, such as the Super Bowl, and those that last much longer, such as the pandemic.
Full search coverage is initially available on mobile devices in the US for people using Google in English. The company plans to expand the feature to more languages and regions over the coming months.
