Goldberg returns to challenge Drew McIntyre for WWE Championship

WWE aired the episode of Monday night mourning around a group of returning Legends, certainly, but they ended up playing supporting roles that focused on the main event: Drew McIntyre vs. Keith Lee for the WWE Championship.

Hulk Hogan made McIntyre extraordinarily great while Lee was left behind by Matt Riddle. Despite the latter point, the match was treated as a legitimate big showcase and presented to Lee as a worthy challenge. They got about half an hour, and all the legends sat on top of the stage to watch.

What they were treated with was a bodily, back-and-forth struggle of decay. There was never really any doubt that McIntyre would retain the title, and that’s exactly what he did after a Claymore of the Ropes, but Lee did a hell of a job in it in a big game.

And then Goldberg returned.

He claims McIntyre does not have enough respect for the returning legends and he wants to challenge him for a WWE Championship match at Royal Rumble on 31 January. the show went off the air.

It completely overshadowed Lee’s strong performance, but hey, it’s WWE. We know it now.
