Godzilla vs. Kong ”is on the move again.
Shortly after Warner Bros. increased the film’s release date two months earlier than expected, from May 21 to March 26, the studio postponed its local premiere by another week. Now, “Godzilla vs. Kong” debuts simultaneously on March 31 in movie theaters and on the streaming service HBO Max. The monster mash-up is being launched internationally, where HBO Max is not available, ahead of North America on March 26th.
As part of the scheduling announcement, Warner Bros. James Wan’s horror film “Malignant” was added to the calendar again and the thriller set for September 10th.
The latest delay of “Godzilla vs. Kong” was in response to the news that MGM is postponing the sequel to the James Bond “No Time to Die” from April 2 to October 8. Sony’s “Peter Rabbit 2: The Runaway”, which was also set for April 2, has been postponed until June. Since most films were released in early 2021, ‘Godzilla vs. Kong ‘opens Wednesday ahead of Universal’s action thriller’ Nobody ‘starring Bob Odenkirk.
Legendary Entertainment, the production company behind ‘Godzilla vs. Kong ‘, recently spoke with Warner Bros. nice chat after they threatened to take legal action over the studio’s decision to send all its 2021 films to the streaming service HBO Max on the same day that they debuted in theaters. Legendaries were frustrated because Warner Bros., its regular contributor, had earlier blocked Netflix’s $ 250 million offer to buy the monster movie. The two companies reportedly cleared up frustrations and decided on a release strategy that satisfied both parties.
