Gobernadora establishes as public policy the reconstruction of the Arecibo Observatory

The governor of Puerto Rico, Wanda Vázquez, founded the 2020-96 Executive Order to establish as public policy the reconstruction of the Arecibo Observatory’s radio telescope.

This is for “resurrection as a world class education center”.

The Executive Order establishes a $ 8 million union for the reconstruction efforts, which includes the remedial action of the ambient data and disposition securing the affected material, which is in charge of the supervision of the National Foundation of Senior Citizens.

At the press conference, the governor made sure that this day was a “great opportunity” to regress the attractive and touristy attraction that it was.

“We will not be able to put our granite in the arena in the future”, continued the first executive.

The first pass of December failed the last cables that sustained that were known as the Gregorian court, a platform that weighed 900 tons and that ran against the plateau of 305 meters of diameter, causing major days.

While on the 6th of November a main cable fell at the Arecibo Observatory, at 7:39 am, causing days on the main plateau of the installation.

Different from the auxiliary cable that fell in the same installation on the 10th of August, this main cable is not salvaged from its enclosure, so it is broken and cayed on the above reflector plate, causing additional data on this plate and other cables, informs el domingo 8 de november.

On November 19, the National Foundation of the United States of America (NSF, for its English flags) announced that it had dismantled the plateau, given that it was not considered a viable repair with security.

The Arecibo Observatory was established in 1963 but has been modernized and expanded on various occasions, due to the lack of vigilance in the investigation.
