Gmail is one of Google’s most used products, which means the company wants to push many integrations with other tools into it. Last year, a redesigned interface for G Suite customers with support for Chat and Rooms sections appeared in the sidebar. Google is now introducing an update that allows users to resize these sections according to their needs.
The company says it will make it easier to keep track of your most important conversations and navigate to chats faster than before. The size of the chat and room sections can be changed by clicking and dragging on the section header to make it longer or shorter, depending on your preferences.
While it is not a major revolution, it is a useful addition to have. According to Google, the size of the sidebar sections will go up in the next few days to Google Workspace Essentials, Business Starter, Business Standard, Business Plus, Enterprise Essentials, Enterprise Standard and Enterprise Plus, as well as G Suite Basic, Business, Education , Enterprise for Education and Nonprofits clients.
Since normal Gmail accounts do not yet have access to Chat and Rooms, it will not affect users – although this may change in the near future as Chat Hangouts begins to completely replace them.
