Gmail and other apps fall on Android, but there is a solution

If apps like Gmail and Google Pay recently crashed on your Android phone, you ‘re not alone – this seems to be a common problem.

Numerous user reports on Downdetector indicate that there are issues with Gmail, and reports on Reddit speak of Gmail having been constantly crashing since Monday. In addition, Google’s own workspace Status Dashboard said that the company “is aware of an issue with Gmail that affects a significant subset of users.”

The problem, which apparently stems from a system app called Android System WebView, has now been fixed.

It looked ugly for a moment, but it was getting better quickly.

“The problem with Gmail has been resolved. We apologize for the inconvenience and thank you for your patience and continued support. Please be assured that Google is a top priority and that we are constantly improving to improve our systems,” Google said in a comment on the Workspace Status Dashboard.

To resolve this issue, users need to update both Google Chrome and Android System WebView via Google Play. To do this, open the Play Store app, search for Android System WebView and press “Update”. Then repeat the process for Google Chrome.
