After 52 million subscribers tuned in to the Netflix melodrama Ginny & Georgia, the series was officially renewed for a season two.

Antonia Gentry, 23, and Brianne Howey, 31, will return as mother-daughter duo Ginny and Georgia, respectively, in ten brand new episodes on the streaming network, Deadline reported Monday.

The second season of Ginny and Georgia is being produced in Toronto with the same female creative team behind the first season, Deadline reports.

No date has been set for when production will resume or when fans can expect new episodes to appear on Netflix.

The series follows teenager Ginny and her 30-year-old mother Georgia as they begin anew in the posh suburban city of Wellsbury.

In the first season, Ginny finds herself in an intricate love triangle at her new high school – which is further aggravated by the fact that she’s the best for her brother from her best friend, who also happens to be her neighbor.

Meanwhile, her bomb from a south-bellied mother, Georgia, tries to surpass her checkered past as she settles in the city – and with the hungry, single mayor … who is also her boss.

The series kicks off on February 24 and joins 2021 Netflix juggernauts such as Brigerton and Lupine, which are watched by an astonishing 52 million subscribers in the first 28 days.

Season one ended with Ginny and Georgia in battle and the teenager ran away with her little brother Austin.

The finale also features a throwaway joke about Taylor Swift’s long list of exes who did not fit the superstar well in the current climate.

The 31-year-old Grammy winner took to her substantial Twitter platform to hit Netflix because she was broadcasting a ‘deeply sexist’ and ‘degrading’ joke at the time, to which she was referring at the time.

Taylor tweeted, “Hey Ginny & Georgia, 2010 called and he wants his lazy, deeply sexist joke back,” Taylor wrote. “How about we stop humiliating hard-working women by defining this horse *** as FUNNY?”

Following Taylor’s criticism, Antonia shared a lengthy statement in which she expressed her gratitude to fans of fans: ‘Thank you for the love and support you have shown me and our show, Ginny and Georgia, over the past week.

‘I could never have imagined something like that as a young girl – that is, having a voice that has impact.

‘It’s so meaningful to see the hundreds of messages from fans in my inbox that are seen, heard and understood because of the program and its characters. It was also nice to hear from those who just loved being together for an entertaining ride.

In part, they add, “As someone who grew up and was voiceless and unimportant, and who did not reflect herself on screen, Ginny Miller was ultimately a procrastinator.”
