Gina Carano addresses ‘The Mandalorian’ firing, double standard in political differences with Pedro Pascal

Gina Carano, who was fired from the Disney + program “The Mandalorian”, told her in a new interview about her experience working for Lucasfilm.

She also addressed the controversial post that led to her dismissal from the “Star Wars” series and mentioned the political double standard she feels exists at the company, which is owned by Disney.

The last straw for Lucasfilm and Disney came when Carano drew criticism for a post on social media in which she compared the political separation of today with the events in Nazi Germany and conservatives with the Jewish people. She had earlier been hit back by other comments about the coronavirus, the use of gender pronouns and election fraud.

The former MMA fighter said on ‘The Ben Shapiro Show’ that her intention behind the most recent photo (which was removed) was to ‘bring people together’ and emphasize how ‘people tear each other apart’.

Carano pointed out that she is not the only cast that places polarizing content. In 2018, the leader of “The Mandalorian”, Pedro Pascal, compared undocumented children who kept cages on the border to Jews in concentration camps. He was not fired.

“I love Pedro. I love him. I know he said and did some hurtful things. But we had an agreement after realizing that we were a little politically different. “We had an agreement that you are first and foremost a human being and you are my friend first,” she explained.

“That’s what was really crazy,” she said. ‘You see these people [on one side] to be so passionate and you see people [on the opposing side] to be so passionate. I just like that we are both passionate. We think a little differently, I think, through our different experiences. I know we both got our tweets wrong. We are not perfect. We are people. But he’s not a bad person. He is a sweet man. ‘

Carano also remembers how she looked when she shot ‘The Mandalorian’.

She added, “I was prepared to be released at any point because I saw it happen to so many people. I saw the look on their faces. I saw the bullying going on, and so when it started, they point their guns at you, and you know it’s just a matter of time. I saw it happen to so many people, and I just thought to myself, ‘you come for me, I know you are.’ this very clearly through their employees who come to me, and that’s why I was like, ‘I’m going to swing and I will stay true to myself.’

Carano revealed that she accidentally received an email indicating that Disney is following the #FireGinaCarano hashtag on social media, but that she also has support from the company.

“I’m not the only one who’s ever been bullied by this company, and I know it so deeply. I can share a story that will make things in the media, but I can not because it would sell to a friend. “Everyone is afraid of losing their job,” she teased.
