Gilmore Girls star David Sutcliffe denies involvement in Capitol riot

“Gilmore Girls” actor David Sutcliffe set the record amid rumors that he took part in the riot in the Capitol building earlier this month.

Sutcliffe, 51, took him to his Twitter account over the weekend to address allegations that placed him at the Capitol on January 6, the day the building was violated by rioters and led to the deaths of at least five people. including a police officer.

“There are rumors circulating that I ‘stormed the capital’ (sic),” Sutcliffe tweeted. “Not true – though I would have been proud to share a smoke with this great Patriot!”

In the same tweet, the actor shared a video of a man filming himself allegedly smoking marijuana in the Capitol.

“We made history guys. People smoke weed here. May I please beat it and make history with you? I smoke weed. We made history,” said an unknown man in the video. “Thank you Patriot, we made history. This is our home. ‘

Sutcliffe’s tweet received mixed reactions from fans, while some claimed it was inappropriate, while others questioned whether he was joking.

A fan responded“Is it possible that he’s joking? I literally saw and laughed at it days ago and further thought it was a real joke. I feel like he’s sitting at home laughing … watching the outrage. If not a joke is not, then … I’m worried. And sad. And worried, “to which Sutcliffe responds,” Right. “

The actor also shared the tweet from the fan and wrote: “I feel seen”, which further appeared to confirm that he was not serious.

Despite confirming that he was joking, Sutcliffe still suffered setbacks.

“There is nothing ‘patriot’ to this man who storms into the capital building and smokes weeds. Nothing at all!” Twitter user said.

“Disappointed – but mostly in myself because I believed that your true personality is reflected in the characters you played. You’ve always been seen but of course not understood. I, for one, can no longer listen , “has another reacted.

Another informed Sutcliffe that Twitter “is not the platform to make such a joke.”

A Sutcliffe representative did not immediately respond to Fox News’ request for comment.

Sutcliffe is not the first known person to storm the Capitol’s allegations. Jay Kay, the lead singer of the group Jamiroquai, was forced to deny that he was at the riot in Capitol one day after it took place.

When he saw his name tending to Twitter after people misidentified him as one of the rioters, Kay tweeted: “Good Morning Washington, love the head coverings, but not sure it’s my crowd. Stay safe everyone, J xxx . “
