But the plot development involves the show’s author, Peter Morgan.
Only a few weeks after announcing his split from actress Gillian Anderson, Mr. Morgan apparently moved on to his next love – filmmaker Jemima Khan.
Friends say the couple have seen each other happily since the new year and have been living together.

While enjoying their first blush of love, Ms Anderson, who earned accolades for her portrayal of Margaret Thatcher in the fourth series of The Crown, is said to be ‘upset’ about the way her former partner went on so quickly.
She is said to be ‘confused’ about the new relationship, and friends say that ‘she definitely raised an eyebrow or two’ about the news about the romance.

They never untied the knot or even pulled it together – which probably only contributed to the shock of the news that Morgan was with me after only two weeks. Khan, the former wife of Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan, is living.
A source said: ‘There was a bit of a process before Gillian and Peter divorced, but it all happened quickly nonetheless and was quite a surprise.
“The impression is that Jemima has been trying to make this happen for some time. She’s been in Peter for a long time.
‘But a few weeks before we meet, it’s not long, especially after four years together. Hence the enchantment of Gillian. ‘
The former X-Files actress, Anderson (52), was first linked to the Oscar-nominated Mr. Morgan when they attended a launch party for The Crown together.
But the couple, who each have children from previous relationships, expressed their business in a ‘work schedule and family logistics’ despite collaborating on the Netflix series.
Ms Khan has two sons – Suleiman (24) and 21-year-old Kasim – from her marriage to former cricketer Khan. The couple married in 1995, but divorced nine years later.
Since then, the daughter of the late tycoon James Goldsmith and the socialist Lady Annabel Goldsmith have dated several striking men.
She was co-editor of the political magazine The New Statesman and was editor-in-chief in Europe for the American magazine Vanity Fair and now runs a film production company.
Father-of-five Mr Morgan has been nominated for an Oscar for his screenplay for the film The Queen in 2006, starring Helen Mirren.
His other screenplay credits include the films Frost / Nixon and The Damned United, as well as the award-winning stage play The Audience.
