Giant will target attacking linebacker on NFL draft early 2021

As part of The NFL’s 2021 NFL draft preview, we explore what the Giants can do at each position. Sunday: Offensive line.

The Giants tackled Andrew Thomas offensively with the overall No. 4 in the NFL draft in 2020. Can they take offense at No. 11 again in the first round this year? They can do so, although at this stage it is not the highest priority. Of course, if Penei Sewell of Oregon falls to them (he will not), that priority will change. The other option to think about is Rashawn Slater of Northwestern, who is seen by many scouts as moving inward to be a killer. Slater, if available, should be seriously considered because he has great positional flexibility and can move right away right away. Is Christian Darrisaw (Virginia Tech) worth number 11? This can be a reach.

The Giants took three offensive lineouts in last year’s draft and all three are in the plans. Shane Lemieux is set to start at one of the waiting spots, and this coaching team is high on Matt Peart. If Kevin Zeitler is cut to create salary space, it means there is no guarded guard on the roster.

In terms of depth, the giants are tackling it with the return of Nate Solder, a veteran and former left-wing tackle who should provide experienced and capable back-up support on both tackles – unless he actually surpasses Peart and wins the right tackle. . Nick Gates seems safe as the starting center. Jonotthan Harrison has 42 NFL starts, mostly in the middle, and 84 games played have been signed for home insurance. Other than that, there is not much in the way of proven depth. It would be a surprise if the Giants did not take an attacking linebacker with one of their first three picks.
