Giant lizard climbs store shelves in Thailand 7-Eleven

Buyers got more than they intended in a Thailand 7-Eleven store when a giant lizard walked in and climbed store shelves.

People can hear screaming and laughing in the background as the lizard reaches the top of a shelf and spreads out near an ice machine.

According to the video news website Newsflare, Narumpa Tangsin recorded the now viral video on his phone in Nakhon Pathom, a city just outside Bangkok.

An employee of the store called police who then brought reptile handlers to capture the Godzilla creature. The handlers dragged the lizard out of the store and lured it to a nearby brush.

Asian Monitor lizards tend to live in canals and ponds in significantly humid climates. It is unknown why the monitor wandered around in the 7-Eleven, but he may have been looking for food due to the dry weather of recent months with little rain.

Monitors can live up to 22 years in captivity and some can grow to almost six feet long. It is the second largest lizard in the world behind the Komodo dragon.
