In case you have not yet swum in stream service subscriptions, Hulu offers a discount of $ 2 monthly plan for students. Note, however, that if you are long past the university and happen to have an .edu email address, it will not be enough to qualify as a ‘student’ – Hulu verifies that you actually attend school.

The new student plan

The ad-supported plan provides two simultaneous streams that allow you to view content on demand, including original programming The Handmaid’s Tale and Palm springs, as well as content from ABC, NBC, Fox, Bravo, USA Network, FXX, and other channels. It’s $ 4 cheaper per month than you would normally get with the plan. The offer – which is currently has no end date – will undoubtedly attract more on-demand users who can later is sold more expensive live tv service plan.

If you have a current subscriber while also being enrolled at a U.S. Title IV accredited college or university, you are eligible to switch to the student plan – for that, log in to your Hulu account and then go here and click “OFFER” to apply student discount rates to your existing ad-supported Hulu subscription.

The plan includes Hulu’s new Watch party function, which allows subscribers in groups of up to eight people to view and chat content. For more information on how it works and how to set it up, check out this Lifehacker post.

You can not fake to be a student

It’s a open secret that people use their .edu email account to qualify for student discounts years after their degree, but Hulu is actually verifying your status. In partnership with the party pooping verification service SheerID, you must provide the name of your college or university. Per Hulu:

Offer valid for new and existing Hulu invoice subscribers enrolled at a U.S. Title IV-accredited college or university that meets verification qualifications. Verification performed by SheerID; Entry information (eg first name, surname, college / university name, date of birth) must be shared with SheerID for verification purposes. Automatic re-verification is done annually.

When you last to college during the Obama administration, it seems you did not have luck.
