Atlanta Mayor Brian Kemp orders extension of ballot (R) announced Wednesday that all remaining COVID-19 restrictions in the state will be lifted from Thursday.
“We know that hard-working Georgians cannot endure another year like this. That is why tomorrow we will start releasing the remaining restrictions on our economy here in Georgia, “Kemp said in a video statement Wednesday.
This means that Georgia businesses will no longer have to enforce social distance, that the ban on rallies will be lifted and that the authorities’ ability to close businesses that violate restrictions will be removed.
“As our COVID-19 numbers continue to trend in the right direction, and with all Georgians 16 years or older eligible to receive the vaccine, Dr. Toomey now encourages everyone to roll up their sleeves and take their chances. so that we can continue to make steady progress in returning to our way of life in the Peach State, ”Kemp said.
The shelter-in-place requirement is also being lifted in the state, and all proposed measures for businesses will be compiled into one main list.
A number of other countries are also moving to eliminate COVID-19 requirements.
Restrictions are being lifted across the country because millions of Americans are being vaccinated against the coronavirus.
However, health officials warn against a rapid reopening, saying the pandemic is not over yet.
