Genshin Impact 1.4 update adds an in-game event simulation

Genshin Impact’s 1.4 update adds a new sim activity to the game, Hangout Events, which initially contains four characters.

Genshin ImpactThe upcoming 1.4 update adds a dating sim to the game as part of the Windblume Festival event. Developer MiHoYo recently unveiled the trailer for the 1.4 update called ‘Invitation of Windblume’, which finally confirmed the addition of Rosaria, a new 4-star Cryo character, to the spearhead to the game grid. The trailer also teased the first major event of the update, the Windblume Festival, which will feature a whole host of activities and mini-games for players.

Apart from the launch of Rosaria and the launch of the Windblume Festival, Genshin Impact’s 1.4 update also brings Venti back as the 5-star banner character of the event, giving players who could not pull him down when the game launched in September another chance to add the Anemo Archon to their roster. MiHoYo also announced earlier that changes to the resin system as well as the adventure rank and world level systems will also be implemented in the 1.4 update.

MiHoYo unveiled the new appointment sim activity during the 1.4 update, where details about the new activities of the patch were announced. During the Windblume Festival, which begins when the 1.4 update launches on March 17, 2021, players can spend time with Barbara, Noelle, Bennett and Chongyun in what the game calls Hangout Events. Each of the characters appearing at the event has their own series of events and interactions, as well as various endings, depending on the dialogue choices the player makes. By unlocking each of the actual endings, players will be rewarded with a Hangout Memory illustration and players who complete multiple endings will receive even more rewards.

Genshin Impact’s however, new hangout opportunities will not be limited to the Windblume Festival, as MiHoYo plans to show more characters for the activity in future game updates. The launch of the 1.4 update and the Windblume Festival will also introduce several other events to the game, although some of them will only be available for the duration of the festival, such as the Lantern Rite Festival of the 1.3 update. The three primary mini-games that players can experience during the Windblume Festival are Bullseye Balloons, Floral Freefall and Ballads of Breeze. Each mini-game contains four difficulty levels, each rewarding a certain number of festive tour tickets that players can exchange for talent level material and two new devices.

While the addition of Hangout Events does offer players something more to do Genshin Impact, its implementation can be less than entertaining. Hopefully MiHoYo can perform the new activity well, especially since the studio plans to add more characters to Hangout Events in the future.
