After more than half a century, General Motors changed its company logo to usher in a new era of electric vehicles. The gradient blue solid square is pasted with the underlined capital letters “GM”, and in its place is a square with rounded corners and lowercase letters “gm” with only the “m” underlined – a gradient through the logo makes a way it looks like an icon for an Abobe application.
GM says: “The new GM logo has a color scheme of vibrant blue tones, evoking the clean air of a zero-emission future and the energy of the Ultium platform. The rounded edges and lowercase letters create a more modern, inclusive feel. The underlining of the “m” joins the previous GM logos and also visually represents the Ultium platform. And within the negative space of the ‘m’ is a wink to the shape of an electrical plug. ‘
The new logo is fresh and certainly speaks of a more environmentally friendly future for the American carmaker. We now wonder what this means for the various car brands under the GM umbrella. May we see updated badges in the near future?
