Gazelle brings back its trade-in program after two months after being discontinued

Swap provider Gazelle left the online swap industry in February, and now the company says it is changing its mind. Gazelle is back to accept online exchanges of iPhones, Samsung phones, Google Pixel devices and iPads and other tablets on its website, the company confirmed to The edge. The program resumes acceptance of new offers on April 5, a Gazelle representative explained.

“Earlier this year we announced that we would no longer offer our trade-in option on Gazelle. After careful consideration, including feedback from customers like you, we decided to keep Gazelle Trade-In going. Today we like to say, ‘We’re back, baby!’ ‘, Reads an email Gazelle sent to prospective customers and shared with The edge. “Gazelle Trade-In is a pioneer in the electronic trade-in space and we are pleased to build on our legacy by offering a simple process and immediate payouts for the unwanted devices.”

Gazelle has emerged as one of the leading exchange providers of the smartphone era. But the business model did not fare so well when the American mobile phone company underwent major shifts from two-year contracts and purchases of real devices and towards telephone leasing and exchange programs for transportation companies and devices such as Apple’s.

Gazelle announced in December last year that it would end its online trade-in program on February 1, 2021, although the company said at the time that it would continue its personal trade-in kiosk through its parent company ecoATM. Gazelle did confirm in the email to customers that he will not be returning his rewards program. “We will continue to evaluate market conditions and will notify you if it changes,” the email reads.
