Fans of Garth Brooks are divided over the upcoming performance of the country icon during the inauguration ceremony for Pres. Joe Biden.
On Monday, singer “Friends in Low Places” (58) officially joined Lady Gaga and Jennifer Lopez in the series.
Many fans were excited to hear that the star would be showcasing his talents for the ceremony.
“Apparently Garth Brooks has friends in high places too!” said a Twitter user. “Looking forward to his performance during our virtual inauguration for our very real President, Biden and Vice President, Harris.”

“I who read garth brooks play at @JoeBiden’s inauguration,” said another next to a video clip of a man jumping on his heels and clicking.
Another said: “Awesome. Love Garth!”

Others, however, seemed unhappy.
“Garth Streams plays the inauguration as a Republican and places ‘friends in low places’ ” wrote a critic.

“Praying is not good,” said another. “We were divided because people like Garth Brooks were willing to be divided when they were told to be.”
Other person said they “followed up” the musician and removed “all music” from Brooks from their phone.

During Monday’s announcement, the presidential inauguration committee said the future first lady Jill Biden had personally reached out to Brooks, joking that he would probably be ‘the only Republican at the ceremony’. However, he made sure that his presence was there to bring people together, not politics.

Brooks acted famously during the inauguration of Donald Trump, but later explained that it was a scheduling issue rather than a political statement.
