Garmin Enduro is the new solar sports watch for ultra runners

Garmin has introduced the new Enduro sports watch, aimed at ultra runners and those participating in long-distance racing.

This is another remake of the Garmin Fenix 6, aimed at the ultra-barreled segment, with some unique features designed for life on the trail. Starting at $ 799.99, it’s actually just as expensive as the Fenix, and double the price of the Garmin Instinct Solar outdoor watch, which will be important for less extreme routes.

It features the company’s new solar technology, which according to Garmin will offer up to 65 days (in power saving modes) with 70 hours of GPS tracking, which will rise to 80 hours if you use the sun.

It has the same shape as the Fenix 6X and the same low-resolution 280×280 transflective LCD screen, with a thick 51mm case.

However, we are fans of the new UltraFit nylon tire, and it is lighter than the Fenix 6X. It gives a scale of 76 g for the standard version and only 58 g for the titanium version.

Garmin Enduro Shows Solar Power

And there are a number of adjustments to the biometrics aimed at ultragrunners and racers.

The first is an updated VO2 Max score that takes track account into account. On standard Garmin devices, VO2 Max is estimated in part using pace. So runners switching to the trail can find the VO2 Max at a slower pace. The Garmin Enduro will adapt to that.

There’s also a new ultra-running sports profile on the Garmin Enduro, with a rest button that will mark the time spent in aids during runs.

However, it does not go into nutrition and hydration planning, which is characteristic of the excellent Polar Grit X, and something that will be of utmost importance to those who supplement ultra-distances.

And the rest is a distillation of the best features found on the Fenix. There is ClimbPro that will show data on your climbs / descents on hills, and if you have pre-uploaded a route, warn you of upcoming climbs.

There is also a focus on race preparation, with Recovery Advisor and recommended workouts. Both of these aspects are even more important for ultragrunners and cyclists.

Garmin Enduro Altitude Display Climb Pro

Cycling is not to be missed, and the Enduro will also detect the difficulty and technical character of MTB trails, with specialized gravel and flow data. It will also remember MTB routes and achieve your performance, so you will have to beat something next time.

In terms of health and wellness, there is a SpO2 sensor that produces the Body Battery data filtered by the latest Garmin smartwatches. You also get notification support, Garmin Pay, and support for Garmin InReach satellite communications if you really use the network.

It is not surprising that there is a great price for all these things, and it will sell from $ 799.99. This means that it is actually the same price as the Fenix 6 – which means that it will only appeal to extremely dedicated ultrarunners. For those who only sail on the trails, the Fenix of Instinct will probably fit better.
