Game of the Millennium rated for Nintendo Switch

Do you believe in miracles?

Some great news for fans of SNK’s Neo Geo Pocket Color Selection, as one of the coolest fighters of all time, SNK vs. Capcom: Game of the Millennium, was rated for Nintendo Switch by the Game Rating and Administration Committee of Korea.

Originally released in the winter of 1999, Game of the Millennium was SNK’s ambitious attempt to stop the bumper action of titles such as Capcom teen SNK for its humble handset, the Neo Geo Pocket Color. Surprisingly, the experiment was a success, leading to a cute pint-sized warrior watching legends from both brands battle it out for a round of fistuffs.

Street Fighter’s Ryu, Ken, Sakura and Chun-Li; King of Fighters’ Iori, Terry Bogard and Mai; Samurai Shodown’s Nakoruru and Haohmaru; even Darkstalkers’ Morrigan, Felicia and BB Hood all turn up for the loose scrum, with Game of the Millennium SNK’s traditional tag team options, as well as boss characters, unlockable warriors and secret stages. If that wasn’t enough, there are also some fun mini-games with points attack, based on titles like Metal Slak and Ghouls n ‘Ghosts.

While of course not quite as deep as your average console warrior, SNK vs Capcom: Game of the Millennium is, in many ways, one of SNK’s biggest releases – a title that truly brings out the best in the least, above and beyond every drop of power available from its home platform. Concerns have been expressed that licensing this title could prevent it from being released again, so it’s great news that this long-lost fighter will once again have the opportunity to shine.
