Galaxy S21 provides wireless support for Samsung DeX on PC

We can think of several reasons why you should consider Samsung’s new Galaxy S21 series. Aside from having premium buildings and amazing camera systems on the next level, the devices are also powerful. It seems that the new devices also have the best DeX support.

Samsung DeX is Samsung’s computer mode software that lets you turn your Galaxy S or Tab device into a portable computer. It can run on the device (but only on Tab series devices), on an external monitor / TV (wirelessly using Miracast or wired with a USB-C to HDMI adapter), or as an applied window on a Windows / macOS computer.

To run Samsung DeX under Windows 10 / macOS, you need to download Samsung’s DeX for PC software. Previously, you could only run DeX for PC with a wired connection between your Galaxy device and your computer. However, the Galaxy S21 supports the management of DeX for PC wireless, as long as your computer and your phone are on the same wireless network. The news is first through Android Police.

If you’ve never given Samsung DeX a chance, it might be time to do so. And if you do not own a new Galaxy S21, do not worry; SamMobile suggests that this wireless DeX-to-PC support will move to older Galaxy devices. After all, when the Galaxy Note 20 series was launched, it was wireless DeX-to-TV support, which was then brought to older Galaxy smartphones.

The process of starting DeX wirelessly on a computer is quite simple. Simply pull down the notification screen and tap the appropriate icon to start searching for a computer that is on the same network and has Samsung’s DeX for PC software installed. Then connect. There are apparently issues with the S Pen when using the S21 Ultra, and there is also a noticeable import delay. This means that if you want to play a game, you have to follow the wire route.

According to Samsung, DeX is designed to ‘take multitasking to a new level’. “Access multiple applications from your computer while still making calls or checking text messages on your smartphone … It’s productivity like you’ve never experienced before.”
