Galaxy Active Watch 2 gets SmartThings Find in an update with features

Not even a full day after the official, full-fledged announcement, the SmartThings Find service is already selecting Galaxy Active Watch 2 models. And this is just the tip of the iceberg that is the latest update for Samsung’s portable 2019 version.

Identified by release version R820XXU1DUA3 / R820GFC1DUA3, the firmware upgrade was first seen earlier today by one of our eagle-eyed readers from Canada.

How long until SmartThings Find more Galaxy portable items?

SmartThings Find is on the heels of nearly half a year of Samsung’s teasers. The feature was originally mentioned during the Galaxy Note 20 Ultra announcement as a way to underline the flagship’s ultra-wideband (UWB) support. And only yesterday, Samsung finally announced a practical, real-world application of this tracking solution in the form of an extremely convenient Android Auto integration.

The recently announced update also brings the newly launched group-step challenge within Samsung Health for Galaxy Watch Active 2 users. And just because 2020 is behind us does not mean that Samsung has become less serious about proper hand hygiene. Because it looks like the tech giant is now putting together its Hand Wash app with maintenance updates. As a reminder, this educational smartwatch tool launched in April, originating from the Samsung R&D Institute India-Bangalore (SRI-B).

General-purpose enhancements and bug fixes are also part of this firmware version, according to a download log change. The Galaxy Watch 3 and Samsung’s other portable material will probably not be too far behind the Galaxy Watch Active 2 to get SmartThings Find. After all, the support efforts aimed at modern Galaxy smartwatches were nothing short of Samsung’s pursuit of portable feature parity.
