Gaetz explained that the media treated Cuomo as an ‘oracle’ of the pandemic, while targeting former President Donald Trump on his response to the virus.

“The 45th president has put us on the path to the fastest, safest vaccine development the world has ever known,” he said. “And we are still seeing the consequences of President Trump’s actions in saving lives, and unfortunately we are only beginning to discover to what extent the actions of Government Cuomo cost lives.”

The congressman said Cuomo and his team could shave off the death toll by ignoring patients who were exposed in nursing homes but died in hospitals.

“They did it to disguise the choices they made to put blood on their hands,” he said.

Gaetz linked the coronavirus response in Florida compared to New York as a ‘story of two governors’. According to him, the National Guard in Florida has been used to ensure that nursing homes remain clean of virus infection, while the younger, less affected generations have the free will to ‘live their lives’.
