Today at Fujifilm’s global X Summit, the company announced two new cameras, including the new GFX 100S, which is the most compact large format camera to date.

Weighing 1.9 kilograms, the GFX 100S is closer to the size of a traditional DSLR than its bigger brother, the standard GFX 100. Although it has a body 30 percent smaller, the GFX 100S still has a large 102 MP sensor. with a newly improved image stabilization system in the body that provides up to 6 times shake reduction.

As with so much of Fujifilm’s camera, the GFX 100S has 19 different movie simulation filters, including the brand new Nostalgic Neg. filter that wants to recreate the million colors and amber highlights seen on 1970s photos.

Similar to its bigger sibling, the GFX 100S has a monochrome e-ink screen on top with virtual rotary knobs, along with a new larger AF joystick, and a slightly redesigned steering wheel on the left, similar to what you’ve on the XF-10. Around the at the rear there is also a 3.2-inch touch screen that can be adjusted in three directions. And while the GFX 100S is primarily designed as a still camera, it also supports 4K video at up to 30 fps.

However, to make the GFX 100S so small, Fujifilm had to make compromises such as removing support for an optional battery grip. On the bright side, thanks to the use of a new NP-W235 battery, the GFX 100S should be able to take about 460 photos on a single charge, compared to about 400 for the standard GFX 100 (on a single battery).

Alternatively, if 100 MP is more than you really need, Fujifilm will also introduce the XE-4, which is a kind of cross between a X100 and X-S10 but with no body stabilization. Fujfilm has a 26.1 MP sensor that weighs just 0.8 kilograms and says the XE-4 is the most compact camera that supports the X-Series series with interchangeable lens.

Fujiflm claims that the XE-4 should offer super fast autofocus performance with support for face and eye detection. However, for people looking for a flexible digital rangefinder with a few extra tricks, the X-E4 may be the most important feature of the 3-inch rear screen that can be climbed 180 degrees, making it easier to use from the front and easier can see record vlog-style videos.

And with support for 4K recording at 30 fps or full HD recording at up to 240 fps, users have the flexibility to choose between higher resolution or faster recording speeds for better slow-mo.

Finally, in addition to the two new cameras, Fujifilm is also releasing three new lenses, including a new 27mm f / 2.8 pancake lens, an 80mm f / 1.7 prime lens and a 70-300mm f / 4-5.6 telephoto lens.

Both cameras are expected to go on sale sometime in March, with the GFX 100S starting at $ 6,000 (body only) and the X-E4 for $ 850 (body only) or $ 1,050 as a kit with a 27mm f / 4 -lens.
